Reflections for Term 3 so far..

This term we had to start to film and produce the footage for the movie we planned in term 2, to start filming we had to make sure we had completed all planning necessary. The necessary planning sheets we had to fill out included a shot list, a prop list and a production schedule. We only got half way through these before beginning filming because we thought we would run out of time. This was a mistake because there were instances where we realised we couldn't actually film the shots we had drafted onto our shot list due to restricted hours we were actually allowed into the boarding house (the main back drop for our film). To get around this we had to go back and work out where we could fit in some establishing shots and scenes that incorporated the school grounds, we looked through our synopsis and storyboards and worked out possible areas, from this we created new scenes in the movie to both extend the length of our movie and give ourselves something to film during class time. We still need to storyboard our new scenes/establishing shots to show the progress through our planning. We have managed to work out an effective way to dolly our shots and from that we managed to shoot some footage after hours on the weekends. The main issue we face with our film is the fact Julia Durham lives so far away and our movie is set on site, because of this we have struggled to find time to make sure she is present for filming. This week (week 4) is the last week before our draft movie is due, our filming will mostly have to be done over Thursday to Monday because I have been away sick since Monday which will have impacted our movie as I haven't been able to be involved. We currently have a scene shot and back-up footage available for other scenes that are to be filmed this week. By the due date we should manage to finish a rough draft of the movie however things may need to be re-shot during the editing process.
