Reflections for Week 1-6

The first week of production was pretty slow and uneventful. We gathered together our storyboards, synopsis' (with some minor issues regarding the work of Julia D and myself) and we planned the basic plot of our movie. We started to discuss what type of movie we wanted to make and how we could manage to achieve a quality movie, worthy of a decent grade. We chose the synopsis we liked best to work from and chose a title. The movie was going to be called 'Liar. Liar. Ghost.'

The second week of production was more progressive, we started to flesh out plans for shooting and what props would be required. A shot list was adapted from the storyboards/synopsis by Julia M, consisting of the 6 scenes in our movie. I worked on a prop list, listing items necessary to each shot to help production run smoothly. Julia D worked on a shooting schedule to organise when we could all actually film. There was a lack of focus this week, which resulted in us being told to take the project more seriously.

The third week of production we began to work on actually shooting our movie, our planning however was not completely finished and the lack of scenes we would be able to shoot during class became more and more obvious. Our focus levels this week were poor as we didn't feel we needed to work too hard in class as our filming was to be done in the Boarding house. Julia also forgot her camera repeatedly that week.

The forth week of production, some minor filming had been done over the weekend. Mr Andrews spoke to us about our lack of commitment and encouraged us to improve or there would be consequences. We took this onboard and managed to film a newly added Classroom scene, which would fade into the scenes in the Boarding House. We got some footage filmed that week that built up to create a full scene. The footage from the weekend was unusable and was stored as back-up test shots. The deadline was drawing in on us and we needed to work fast or fail, Mr Andrews told us to get our act together which encouraged our productivity in filming. We finished our shot lists, prop lists and shooting schedule this week and posted them on our blogs.

The fifth week of production I was sick, I was away from Monday-Thursday that week, meaning the shooting schedule Julia D had prepared wasn't carried out. I returned into school specially and we filmed some shots from the final scenes of the movie. We managed to film the stunt where I get dragged down the stairs however when we moved on to work on further shots, Julia M's camera died. She had left the charger in Byron which impacted us greatly. We were very pressed for time with an entire film to be shot. We had to wait until Tuesday of week 6 for the charger, Mr Andrews contacted my parents about our lack of productivity this week. We also were granted an extension until August 21st on the premises that it was just a one off.

The sixth week of production was fairly successful. Julia M's charger arrived and Julia D stayed after school to help film in the boarding house. Julia M had to go to Canberra over the weekend, leaving Julia D and me to finish filming. To make this fair, Julia M agreed to edit our rough draft together for viewing on the Monday. Julia D and me managed to film the entire movie from Thursday until Sunday, with help from lots of the boarders. We completed our movie and gave a draft in by our extension deadline. Mr Andrews told us we needed to continue to focus on the rest of the editing so that we did not fall behind because of our extension.
